(Obsolete: Pirelli P400, 215/65 x 15 Aquamile Touring
A/S UTQG - 420AA discontinued, purchased 06/96)

The Pirelli P400 Touring is an all-season, T-rated tire (up to 118
mph) with low treadwear and low noise levels. Considerations that steered me
to this tire were its price and treadwear warranty and good wet/dry handling.
Warranty: The Pirelli P400 Aquamile Touring tires feature 60,000
or 70,000 mile treadwear warranty with prorated replacement (depending on
size). 75 and 70 series tires have 70,000-mile warranty, 65 or 60 series tires
are covered by 60,000-mile warranty.
Performance: The tires are very quiet and comfortable. The size that I
got has maximum inflation pressure of 35 psi. I keep them inflated to 34 psi
and feel that they provide good "touring class" cornering, handling
and steering response as well as braking (at least for a 215mm by 70-series
tire on15-inch wheels ).
The wet weather performance is also quite impressive and definitely better
than the tires they replaced.
The tire wear after 32,000 miles is quite reasonable. I feel that the tire
will last 40,000 miles more, fulfilling its promise of longevity.
Conclusion
The Pirelli P400 Aquamile Touring is a very good value with a quiet,
smooth ride and reasonably good "touring class" handling –
dry or wet. However, they are not designed to go over 118 mph and don’t do
well in snow.
